You may have seen the news yesterday that Peter Dutton and the Liberals are trying to override territory rights.
Earlier this year, the Liberals set up a federal inquiry, supported by the Greens, into the healthcare decisions of the ACT Government – an inquiry designed to undermine the democratic rights of Canberrans.
And now the Liberals are at it again, this time trying to overturn our nation-leading drug laws.
I was proud to introduce drug laws that focus on healthcare, not handcuffs.
Laws that support our most vulnerable and at-risk to get the help they need.
That’s why it’s incredibly disappointing that Michaelia Cash, whose office is more than 3,000km away from the ACT, has decided that the Liberals know what’s better for the ACT than our own citizens.
Today I ask you to sign and share our petition to tell the Coalition and the Greens that territory rights are not up for negotiation.
Unlike last time, the Federal Greens need to join with Labor and stand up for territory rights.
We can’t afford for them to team up with Peter Dutton again.
After all, the Federal Parliament doesn’t interfere with NSW. It doesn’t interfere with Queensland. So why would they vote to allow it to happen to Canberrans?
Help us stand up for territory rights – share the petition here!
Because territory rights aren't negotiable.
And they never will be.
In solidarity,
Michael Pettersson MLA
Member for Yerrabi
P.S. if you’ve already signed the petition, share it with a friend and together, we can make it clear that Canberrans won’t allow their rights to be interfered with.
